Melinda Burnside

The 2018-2019 school year is about to begin, and the excitement and enthusiasm is already present in New Boston Local Schools.  I want to welcome all students and staff back to our school family.  There is no other school like ours.  Each person is very important and we all want the best for our students.  Along with our community, we will strive to achieve success at New Boston Local Schools.

The safety and security of our building is vitally important.  We have discussed many ways to make certain our school is safe.  We established a statement in our Student Handbook that there will be random book bag/backpack searches.  With everything that is occurring in our school systems today, we feel this is a very important part of the safety and security of all students.  The necessity of checking items that could enter the building that we are unaware of is essential to keeping your children safe.  Please make sure that your child comes to school with only the necessary school items and/or supplies.

We want to wish Mr. Sam Fannin the best of luck in his retirement from New Boston Schools as our Head Maintenance Supervisor.  We congratulate Mr. Todd Grant as our Head Maintenance Supervisor and welcome him to his new position.  We also want to welcome Mr. Joey Montgomery to our Custodial Staff and Mr. Cody Sheets to Full Time Bus Driver for the District.  Another familiar face, Mr. Jack Rice, will also be a Full Time Bus Driver this year.  We want to officially welcome Mrs. Teresa Buckley to our Food Service Staff, as she replaced Mrs. Maria Fitch, who is sadly missed every day.

The custodial staff has been working hard in the building and grounds to improve the look of the school inside and out. Our technology coordinator has also worked very hard throughout the summer to improve our services at New Boston.  Thank you very much for all of your hard work.

With the custodial staff and technology department who help New Boston Schools; the Board of Education, principals, guidance counselor, secretaries, librarians, teachers, tutors, school nurse, van and bus drivers, food service, aides, district office, coaches, volunteers, and athletic director want the best for our kids. In our OIP goals for this year, our main focus will be on establishing good relationships and connections with our students.  Our staff works extremely hard to deliver the best education, environment and experience to our students and take pride in everything they do.  Welcome back students and staff! Each day is a learning experience.  Let’s take advantage of it!

If there are any questions or concerns, please contact me.

                                                                                                Yours in Education,
