Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I want to share some important information that will help us all have a successful school year.

About me: This is my 11th year teaching at New Boston Local Schools. I possess a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Teacher Leader endorsement. I would like to (someday) earn a Doctorate in Education and pursue a career as a college professor. I am from Ashland, KY and am a University of Kentucky basketball fan!

Teachers: Your child will have TWO teachers! I will teach Reading, Writing and Language Arts. Mrs. Hadsell will teach Math, Science and Social Studies. You will receive a Weekly Syllabus and brief Homework assignments from BOTH teachers! Mrs. Mullins is the 1st grade instructional aide and Mrs. K. Cartee will work as a 1st grade instructional volunteer this year!

Instruction: My teaching philosophy centers on the idea that learning is an interactive and fun process. Your child will be involved in learning activities that are not only meaningful, but also rich in educational value. I incorporate a lot of song and dance into my daily lessons, despite the fact that I am a terrible singer and dancer! J

Behavior Plan: My behavior philosophy is highlighted by Stanton Primary’s 3 Basic Beliefs—Be Positive, Be Respectful and Be a Learner! The “3 B’s” are simple guidelines for appropriate school-wide behavior. I will also use the Class Dojo behavior system, which awards “points” for both positive and negative behaviors. Login information will be sent home soon!

Online Support: Be sure to visit NBLSD’s website at www.newboston.k12.oh.us, join the PTO Facebook page and the Class Dojo sytem, and sign up for text alerts to stay up to date on important school and classroom information. You will be receiving more information about Progress Book (online attendance and gradebook) very soon, as well.

Contact Info: If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me via the school office (456-4637), cell (464-8462), Class Dojo messaging system, or by email sara.blevins@nbtigers.net. Thank you for all that you do to ensure your child is successful! We will have a GREAT year!
