Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

About Me:  This is my 17th year teaching at New Boston Local Schools.  I possess a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Teacher Leader endorsement. I was born and raised in Ashland, KY, so I am a big University of Kentucky sports fan! Go Cats!

Content and Instruction:  I will teach all subject areas—Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. We will be using a new curriculum for Reading called “Wonders” and a new curriculum for Math called “Everyday Math”.  These new curriculums will help us to establish a solid plan of attack for mastering all 2nd grade content skills over the course of the school year.

My teaching philosophy centers around the idea that learning should be engaging and fun.  I enjoy incorporating song and dance into my academic lessons, so don’t be surprised if your child comes home each day with a song stuck in his/her head!

Behavior Plan:  My behavior philosophy is highlighted by Stanton Primary’s 3 Basic Beliefs—Be Positive, Be Respectful and Be a Learner!  The “3 B’s” are simple guidelines for appropriate school-wide behavior. I will use Class Dojo to track your child’s daily behavior.

Online Support:  Be sure to visit NBLSD’s website at www.newboston.k12.oh.us, monitor the Class Dojo system, join the PTO Facebook page, and sign up for school text/call alerts to stay up to date on important school and classroom information.  I will soon send home more information about Progress Book (online attendance and gradebook), so stay tuned!

Contact Info:  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me via the school office (456-4637 Ext. 111), cell (740-981-8545), Class Dojo messaging system, or by email [email protected].

Thank you in advance for all that you will do to ensure that your child is successful!

Sincerely,

Ms. Sara Blevins
